Aldea has been providing quality hosting and service sine 2009. They say they have more than 2000 customers who use their services, which makes them a mid-sized hosting provider. They seem to work hard to provide an easy to use and understand hosting experience to their customers. They offer no-extras billing, which means they include tax and any other fees in their base price, which makes it simpler. This is actually quite nice since many hosting companies are in countries with high tax rates.
The company is based in Mexico but has servers throughout many countries around the world and can get your hosting where you need it, or at least in the right region, which is what is important with hosting. They have a lot of different hosting options including shared, dedicated servers, VPS, domain registration and more.
Uptime & Reliability
99% Uptime
You only get a 99% uptime guarantee with this company. Compared to many other companies that offer a 99.9% uptime guarantee, this is really not that good. While .9% may not sound like a lot, it does add up to quite a bit. From what people are saying who have used their service, they are fairly stable. Some people complained of slow load times, which is usually an indication that the company oversells their shared hosting services.
Features
Lots of Different Options
This company offers all different types of hosting solutions, and many different options within each package level. They have shared, VPS and dedicates hosting, as mentioned above. The names of their hosting packages are a little confusing, but if you just browse through each one you’ll see that they actually include mostly standard features. They charge you annually, which is a little unusual though not unheard of. Most hosting companies offer the option to pay monthly at least, but from what I can tell this is not the case with Aldea Host.
When you look through the different hosting packages you’ll see that they have some limits on most levels including 500 megs of disk space for their entry level hosting. This is more than enough, but still less than what many hosting providers are offering these days.
Support
Support Seems Good
They don’t really give much information about their technical support. You will have to open a ticket to get in touch with them, and when I did they responded quickly. They also have a page that shows the status of their network, which is always nice because it allows you to quickly check if there are any known issues. In addition, you will be able to use their FAQ page, which can answer many of the most common issues people have.
Pricing
Annual Pricing Options
This company wants to charge you annual for all their services. This is a good way to save money, but for many people it is difficult to come up with a full year’s payment all at once. In addition, even when you divide it out to a monthly fee, it is still more expensive than you would see with other companies. They do include things like taxes and other fees in their price, which is nice, but you’ll still end up paying more than with most other companies.
Summary
Decent Hosting with Some Issues
Overall this is not a terrible hosting provider. They have some issues like the prices and things like that, but if you can pay up front you will likely be happy with their service. Make sure you choose a package that will meet your needs as you don’t want to have to deal with slow page loading.
Pros:
- Lots of Options
- Free Domain Included
Cons:
- Only a 99% Uptime Guarantee
- Annual Payments
