RusTelekom is a hosting company based in Russia. They have been up and in business since 2003 and have been growing and expanding for quite some time. They focus on shared hosting and also offer domain name registration. Unlike many hosting providers today, they don’t seem to be looking to expand into other areas.
Their site is in Russian and while they do have an option to translate it into English it doesn’t really work very well. Much of the site is left in Russian and the areas that are translated don’t really read very well. The point is, unless you speak Russian, it is best to avoid this company. If you do speak Russian, however, it is not a bad option at all.
Uptime & Reliability
Hosting Seems Stable
From what I can find it seems like this company does provide good stable hosting. Since most of their clients are undoubtedly Russian it is impossible to get accurate reviews from real customers. That being said, from what is out there they do seem to have good quality shared hosting.
Features
Good Shared Hosting Features
The features with this company are focused on shared hosting only. If you are looking to host a personal blog or small business site, they can do a great job for you. They only have two options, which are standard and pro hosting. Within these two categories they do have a few choices but that is it. The entry level standard package, for example, has 1000 megs of disk space, unlimited bandwidth, unlimited databases and unlimited emails.
When you move up to the pro hosting you will get 2.4 gigs of disk space, which really isn’t too much. They are still all unlimited for traffic and databases, which is good. Overall, however, these hosting packages are not too impressive, especially when you look at the pricing.
Support
Tech Support is Good
The tech support with this company is really quite good. They have a phone number you can call, live chat and a ticketing system. As with most shared hosting companies, they aren’t going to have too many issues with outages or anything because of the way everything is configured. When you do have a problem, however, they will do their best to assist.
Pricing
Over Priced Hosting
The prices with this company are higher than they should be for what you’re getting. The pro packages range from $10 to $50 per month. While $10 isn’t so bad, it is hard to imagine why anyone would pay $50 per month for shared hosting. At that price they should just call it a VPS and offer the higher levels of control.
Summary
Expensive Shared Hosting in Russia
If you need shared hosting in Russia, this company can give it to you. They are significant over priced, however, so it is likely going to be best to go with another provider. There are a few packages that are reasonable in price for the service you get so if you have the expeirence to shop through their options, you might be able to find a good package.
Pros:
- Unlimited Bandwidth
- Unlimited Databases
Cons:
- Over Priced
- No VPS or dedicated hosting
