Namecheap Embeds StorPool Storage To Improve The Speed and Reliability of Its Hosting Services

Namecheap, a global provider of hosting services and one of the world’s leading domain merchants, has chosen StorPool’s software-defined storage solution as part of its new hyper-converged infrastructure (HCI) platform, which would contribute to Namecheap’s hosting services being faster and more reliable, allowing the firm to better retain and attract clients.

Namecheap is a trusted partner for businesses all over the world, managing over 13 million domains and providing a full range of hosting services.

Its old hosting platform architecture employed a fleet of bare-metal servers with local storage, which generated ‘noisy neighbor’ issues where certain customers’ workloads required too many server resources. This increased the risk of service disruptions for other users, as well as other difficulties such as single points of failure and downtime during server upgrades.

To deliver a next-generation hosting service with better availability and reliability, Namecheap chose an HCI deployment with StorPool’s software running alongside computing workloads on Supermicro servers with 64-core AMD EPYCTM 7742 CPUs and NVMe SSDs.

StorPool is a large-scale cloud infrastructure primary storage platform. It is the most straightforward method of converting regular servers into main storage systems. Their team has worked with a diverse range of clients, including Managed Service Providers, Hosting Service Providers, Cloud Service Providers, corporations, and SaaS providers. StorPool is accessible as software as well as a fully managed service that converts common hardware into fast, highly available, and scalable storage systems.

Max Semenyaka, who serves the role of Technical Operations Manager at Namecheap, had the following to say:

Our highest priority is keeping our customers’ data safe and secure. That is why we chose the StorPool solution, based on AMD processors, providing high performance combined with impressive fault tolerance and data availability rates.

The new StorPool-powered solution would dramatically improve performance and generate favorable outcomes in key metrics that Namecheap was looking for. The technique, according to StorPool and Namecheap, enables high IOPS with little latency while utilizing very few CPU cores and memory, allowing for the effective use of hardware resources.

Boyan Ivanov, who serves the role of Founder and CEO at StorPool Storage, had the following to say:

We are pleased that one of the world’s largest hosting providers chose us to help them achieve fast and reliable primary storage deployed concurrently with shared hosting workloads. Namecheap’s decision to move to an advanced HCI architecture based on AMD EPYC processors and StorPool’s agile storage platform enabled them to achieve a plethora of benefits for their customers.

Namecheap’s new cloud infrastructure would provide the reliability and availability needed to retain current customers while attracting new ones. Thanks to StorPool,

can now execute periodic hardware maintenance with little downtime, accelerate new virtual machine deployments, and ensure optimal performance at scale. Furthermore, Namecheap’s technical staff is no longer required to administer the storage system since StorPool’s operations team will provide immediate assistance in all areas of the storage layer.
