Excelero, a Tel Aviv-based provider of high-performance software-defined storage, has been bought by NVIDIA, an American multinational technology company based in Santa Clara, California.
The goal of NVIDIA is to help the firm expand block storage support in its corporate software stack, such as clusters for high-performance computing (HPC). Block storage would be critical in the DOCA software architecture, which operates on NVIDIA DPUs.
Yaniv Romem, who serves the role of Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Co-Founder of Excelero, had the following to say:
“The Excelero team is joining NVIDIA as demand is surging for high-performance computing and AI. We’ll be working with NVIDIA to ensure our existing customers are supported, and going forward, and we’re thrilled to apply our expertise in block storage to NVIDIA’s world-class AI and HPC platforms.”

Excelero has been an NVIDIA partner since its beginning, drawing the former Mellanox, which is now a part of NVIDIA, as an investor. The firms collaborated on RDMA storage acceleration, which is a key feature of both InfiniBand and RoCE (Ethernet) networks. The financial parameters of NVIDIA’s acquisition of Excelero were not revealed.
NVMesh is a piece of software developed by Excelero, which manages and secures virtual arrays of NVMe flash drives as block storage in public and private clouds.
Excelero’s software has been commended by users for its high throughput, low latency, and Kubernetes container compatibility. Collaborations have also been created with major cloud service providers (CSPs).
NVIDIA’s engineering team would benefit greatly from Excelero’s expertise. By honoring its obligations, NVIDIA will continue to serve Excelero’s clients. In the future, Excelero’s technology will be integrated into NVIDIA’s enterprise software stack.
