HostPapa Server Locations
During my HostPapa signup process, I reached a screen where I could select my server location. HostPapa offered me three choices:
- United States
- Canada
- Europe

That’s it, just three broad regions to choose from.
According to HostPapa’s announcement from May 2020, they launched two additional data center locations to meet growing demand: one in the US-West (California) and another in Europe (Amsterdam). Combined with their existing infrastructure, HostPapa now operates data centers in:
- North America: United States (East and West Coast), Canada

HostPapa emphasizes that all its data centers comply with local data security regulations and are designed to reduce latency by allowing customers to host closer to their target audience. They’ve also committed to expanding to other geographically dispersed locations in the future.
What I Found: During signup, the server selection dropdown simply said “United States,” “Canada,” or “Europe” without specifying exact cities. This lack of specificity made it difficult to know exactly where my data would be hosted.
For someone targeting the West Coast versus East Coast audience, this matters, but HostPapa doesn’t give you that level of control at checkout.
Hostinger Server Locations
Hostinger takes a completely different approach with a truly global data center network spanning multiple continents.
It has 17+ specific data center locations across four continents. A massive difference from HostPapa’s limited options.

Even if your preferred location isn’t available as a primary data center, Hostinger’s CDN (Content Delivery Network) operates in additional standalone locations, including:
- Africa: Johannesburg, South Africa
- Asia-Pacific: Japan, Sydney (Australia)
This means your content gets cached and delivered from servers close to your visitors, even if your main hosting isn’t in those regions.
I was impressed to learn that all Hostinger data centers are powered by (or matched with) 100% renewable energy. Specifically, these locations use renewable energy: USA (Phoenix), USA (Boston), Germany, Lithuania, UK, Brazil, and France. They achieve this through direct contracts with renewable electricity suppliers and purchasing renewable energy certificates (GOs, RECs, I-RECs).
Choosing Your Server Location: During signup, you select your data center after purchase while setting up your order. If you’ve already activated your hosting, Hostinger provides a server transfer tool to migrate your hosting to a different location. For VPS plans, the location is fixed after setup, but you can reinstall on a different data center if needed.
What I Found: Hostinger’s server selection process was more detailed and transparent. I could see specific cities like “Phoenix,” “Boston,” or “Singapore” rather than vague regions. This gave me confidence that I was choosing the optimal location for my target audience.
HostPapa vs Hostinger: The Bottom Line
Hostinger wins decisively. After extensive testing, Hostinger outperformed HostPapa in 6 out of 7 categories. It delivered 5-7x faster load times, more AI-powered features, better global coverage, and superior ease of use, all at comparable prices.
